INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 14,2015)– Police arrested a man Tuesday morning and charged him with murder. On Monday around 9:30 p.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers responded to the 9100 block of Harrison Run Place on the report of a person stabbed.

Officers found Dishun Ash, 19, wounded at the scene. Ash was transported to Eskenazi Health in critical condition. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Detectives believe Michael Hackney, 19, had an altercation with Ash prior to the stabbing. Hackney was taken into custody Tuesday morning and preliminarily charged with murder.

Friends of both Hackney and Ash say the two knew each other, but don’t know what would spark the argument that turned deadly.

“I’ve never been so hurt by someone in my life,” said Devin Smith. The fatal stabbing happened in his house.

Smith said he was with Ash moments after the stabbing.

“I opened the door to my bedroom and he’s falling to the ground, bleeding, like somebody had just stabbed him,” said Smith.

Ash’s friends want his memory to live on as someone who had joy for life.

“I’ve never met somebody who could make me laugh as much as he did. He’s out there, he’s creative, he’s different. He just loves life. He wants to push life to the limit every time. He’s just something different and he really made me learn a lot, a lot about life. It’s crazy,” said Smith.
