Two arrested in connection with weekend armed robbery near Purdue University

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (April 13, 2015)– West Lafayette police arrested two people in connection with a robbery near Purdue University.

A 17-year-old male faces charges of armed robbery, pointing a firearm, criminal recklessness with a firearm, forgery and fraud. John Harris, 22, of Lafayette, was arrested for fraud on a financial institution and forgery.

Around 2 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in the area of the 400 block of South Grant Street. The victim told police he was robbed at gunpoint while walking west on Williams Street from South Chauncey Avenue by two men.

The suspects took the victim’s wallet and cell phone, then fled the area. No shots were fired by the suspects during the robbery.

Detectives say additional arrest(s) are expected. Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact the West Lafayette Police or the WeTip hotline at 1-800-78CRIME.
