Police investigate four Indianapolis shootings in nine hours
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 25, 2015) – Police are investigating four Indianapolis shootings that took place within the course of nine hour Wednesday morning.
The first incident occurred on the city’s near northwest side just after midnight. A man was shot in the 2800 block of E Riverside Drive. He was transported in serious condition.
The second incident occurred near West 18th and North Harding Streets around 6:30 a.m. A woman called for help saying her neighbor shot her in the side. She was taken to the hospital with injuries to her hand and leg. According to police the shooting was the result of an ongoing dispute between the two women. The suspect was arrested after a 30 minute SWAT standoff.
A third person was shot on the city’s near southwest side around 7 a.m. The shooting happened at the intersection of Kappes Street and Howard Street. The victim suffered injuries to their hand and leg.
The fourth shooting occurred in the 1800 block of Minnesota St. A 15-year-old was shot in the leg. This shooting occurred less than a half mile from the shooting at Kappes and Howard Streets. Police believe these incidents are connected, but they are still trying to piece everything together.
These shootings occurred less than 24 hours after a quadruple murder in the 3100 block of N. Harding Street. That makes for a total of eight people shot in the past day.
