CENTERVILLE, Ind. (March 12, 2015) – Centerville High School varsity basketball coach Ryan Chiddister has resigned after being arrested on Saturday on two charges of driving while intoxicated.

According to Centerville-Abington Community Schools Superintendent Phil Stevenson, Chiddister resigned from coaching on Monday, the same day he was placed on paid administrative leave from his physical education teaching position.

Along with resigning as the boys varsity basketball coach, Chiddister’s resignation also included positions as junior high track and field and cross country coach.

The Centerville-Abington Junior High Principal, Rick Schauss, now has the responsibility to decide on a disciplinary recommendation, Stevenson said. She also added that they are waiting to see what other information is available before a decision is made.

Chiddister was arrested early Saturday morning for operating a vehicle with an ACE of .15 or more and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was released from the Wayne County Jail after posting a $505 bail. His initial hearing is scheduled for Thursday morning.
