Bond reduced for IMPD officer accused in domestic violence case
INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 25, 2015) – The bond was reduced Wednesday for an Indianapolis Metropolitan police officer accused in a domestic violence case.
Justin Beaton faces attempted murder, domestic battery and other charges. His bond, originally set at $300,000, was reduced to $50,000 surety plus $2,500 cash bond. Prosecutors objected to the bond reduction.
Beaton told investigators he injured his girlfriend last summer by smashing a bed frame through a sliding glass door. She originally corroborated the story.
Last week, she told investigators that the situation had played out differently—that Beaton had been drinking and went to a gun show. She said he bought a new weapon and fired at her as she stood on their back deck, smashing the glass and causing injuries to her face.
Beaton is currently suspended without pay.
