INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Jan. 25, 2015) — Two men are on the loose after crashing their car and running from police Saturday. A manhunt prompted people on the nearby campus of Butler University to shelter in place.

A spokesman for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) said the driver took off after officers attempted to stop it. The chase ended at West 42nd Street and Cornelius Avenue when the driver went in to someone’s front yard and crashed in to a tree. The driver took off in one direction and the passenger went in another direction.

IMPD officers searched the area in the air and on the ground, but were unable to locate the suspects.

The shelter in place directive from Butler University was soon lifted, but University police urged anyone on campus to remain vigilant and to call 911 if they see anyone suspicious.
